I know i may want to stream in future and that sometimes raises it even more, Dad tells me that the CPU will very rarely damage as the newer models are built to last and even if it gets too much it will just throttle. for example in the long run.

I prefer to keep mine around 28-32 idle and 50-55 under load despite having a 100° threshold.

ive got an i5 750 and when im playing gta IV or COD mwf2 it gets to 58-62. the best thing to do is to get a good cooler.

You can usually tell if your CPU is overheating, because it will keep on rebooting. this is just a 2 months old laptop tho ... a Helios 500 and a Predator 17 and on each of them I am able to maintain a idle temperature of 26-30 C at 0% CPU idle usage. CPU temp varies by CPU too. I recently bought a new Corsair Tower PC from PC Specialist and its CPU is water-cooled.
