Baller! My first thoughts when I saw the video were the same. I would guess that this is vestigial from a period in his youth when he really needed to launch the ball at the hoop.

I also coached in the Detroit area for years and we all know that it is elite in terms of talent and competition. Now that the hoops season is closing out and the 2016 football class is signed, I have a feeling we will be hearing about more ranking shifts.

I didn't mean to be critical of him at all. Fair or not, his individual progress is bound to be measured against whatever Battle and Langford are doing.Beilein better work his 3* magic again - we could use another Caris for 3-4 years.Weird the talk about Austin Davis reclassify, I think he's better than Teske...1.Major caveat.

Major caveat three. a big talent upgrade in rebounding, inside scoring, and some shot blocking.

But if Watson is going to be a college-level shooter (and that is certainly how I imagine him getting on the court during his freshman year) then his whole shooting motion will need to be elevated higher and become much more compact. in 2 years depending on where the program is i think its fair to say whether beilein should stay or goI've watched him play a couple times this year against some excellent competition.

He recruits basketball brain and attitude along with having a really good eye for age and development.

Most NBA players have an extremely high release points. Does anyone have any insights as to why none of the recruiting sites have bumped him up at all?Not 100% sure, but I am guessing that the focus has been on football recruiting.

His stance is a bit wide and his release point looks a bit low. Nor is he like Bo Ryan. He is not fundamentally sound.

Since he isn't very strong, I could see him making big strides as a defender/rebounder. Almost no high schoolers have had their shot examined and refined by a shooting coach; Beilein will have no problem turning this kid into a lights out shooter.I agree his 3 point shot release is far too low.

Winston is the kind of a PG who isn't flashy but is steady and knows how to lead team. IU is the only other power program to offer him.

Disappointing that the recent success we had has not translated into any major recruiting bump.

editing, web design, etc.Which is why I wasn't confident about my answer. I like Lucas and Bruce Brown, but what do I know. I have read he is careful with the ball, smart, and doesn't force bad shots. Watson was also instrumental in the title game victory over Boise Hoop Dreams. I wouldn't have had him in a top 200 and couldn't believe the top 30 assessment. So the question begs, is he a good enough shooter to truly make a difference without development?

Share. But it is so obvious that Beilein and staff must be confident that its a fixable thing.

Dwayne Cohill #35. Winston just always seems to get it done. We used to have a higher recruiting ceiling.

but from what I saw I might lean to Watson. Let's hope that's the case becasue we badly need a talent upgrade on this team. Even by the most charitable timeframe (since 2011), we're 6-5 against them, with several of our wins by a whisker and several of theirs by blowout. Does anyone have any insights as to why none of the recruiting sites have bumped him up at all?

Hopefully this will help him develop a faster trigger (also footwork!). Curry is actually a great point of comparison since he famously remade his jumper during high school.Pretty Neat that you were able to put this together so quickly.Edit: I mirrored the images of Warson to more easily compare to the Steph images.

Take for example Lebron James and Dell Curry, they place the ball above their heads then start their release motion. Sights from Michigan's 79-69 win over Illinois

The MSU commit at Gahanna (Nick Ward) has not impressed me favorably. Go Blue.I would guess he won't play for 2 years at UM, for what my opinion is worth.

Ibi Watson #2.

Sean Loughran #11. Michigan’s wing recruiting in the class of 2016 was a rollercoaster. Limited data, but i like Lucas a sliver more than Winston (tape only) at least as an offensive player. I haven’t seen any issues with Ibi’s motor dating back to the summer.

Ibi Watson (Jr): played about 3 MPG, shot 46/32, other numbers useless due to sample size. Ibi Watson is a 6-4, 180-pound Shooting Guard from Pickerington, OH.

51. Ibi Watson. Is his defensive presence/rebounding good enough to make a difference without significant improvement?

I like a couple of the other PGs Michigan has been looking at better. Fortunately, he will be coached by Jordan and Beilein. Love that crow.4.

There's your reason. Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) 6-5; 185; 2016 - IND 100%; Interests .
