When I asked the dentist about activated carbon toothpaste he said he had read some recent papers on it and cautioned that a lot of research is still needed to make sure it won't damage your enamel long term. Having read about activated carbon and oil pulling i was interested in this potential solution as my teeth have fought againt my current coffee addiction and previous soda addiction and were turning that wonderful yellow everyone strives for.

Also, I would say that the claims about this stuff being a whitening product are only true to the extent that removing plaque/tarter improves the appearance of your teeth. I will continue to use this! Works pretty well to whiten teeth so I ordered another tube when my first ran out, but the second one made me nauseous every time I used it. I noticed a change after the first use. If your enamel is stained, you need a peroxide product. You do end up ingesting the gel.. I hadn't kept up with brushing very well and hadn't been to the dentist for a cleaning in over a year. This stuff is great!
